This article from El Mundo is so rife with bullshiat I don't know where to begin.

First, China wants to be seen as a First World nation by any means necessary. Technology is only the most visible part of their vision. China is all about money and protecting commercial interests. Islam is a threat to those goals and if slaughtering every single Chinese Moslem is conducive to their goals, that's exactly what will happen. China can make more people. They don't need Usama as a peace maker. On the opposite end of this spectrum, China does not truly cause trouble for Taiwan because Taiwan is a profit center for then.

How does a six-five Arab on dialysis (a) get to Northwest China and (b) survive there? Northwest China is probably worse than North Korea. It's cold, remote and not the ideal place for reliable resupply. While the coastal regions are modern and cosmopolitan, Northwest China is medieval.

Let's assume for a moment that Usama has enough money to overcome the supply problem for his kidney disorder. Usama does not have enough money to survive Red Army greed and ambition. The Chinese Communist Party is made up of one percent of the overall population. That's ~56 million people he'd have to bribe and otherwise control to make the price on his head irrelevant.

If Usama is in China, he's dumb as a rock. If Bush has him or has arranged for an October surprise, why not now? Bush would cut Kerry's knees out from under him for the next two weeks if he could. Bush is at his absolute best when he doesn't have to make sense. Putting Usama's head on a platter would allow Bush to babble with impunity and win a legitimate second term.

The El Mundo author–or the translator–is wearing a tin-foil hat.
