Considering that every tattoo shop in South Florida has a stupid British punk import shop nearby, it's hard to believe they wouldn't know but you can really underestimate stupidity, can you? Maybe they think the Union Jack is the flag of Punk Nation. In the Caribbean, “punk” is synonymous with various forms of “fudge packer.” They probably don't know that either. The Union Jack represents the three “United” kingdoms. Ireland is made purposely crooked. You can see that at the CIA's factbook:
