I hate the term “blog” and all forms of the word. A journal, in contrast, is just fine and makes a nice addition to Cyberista. The problem with the blog crowd is that they have to call their journal a blog because it has no other redeeming value.
I built Cyberista in Notepad. People know how hardcore that is and the brain short-circuits on the concept that I didn't buy or use any other program. I relied on reference sites like DevGuru and 4 Guys From Rolla. That's it. My code.
Because it's my code, I don't need to call my journal anything but a journal. “Bloggers” have to give a journal another name because being just a journal and using some academic, unpolished piece of crap would leave them in the realm of irrelevancy where they belong.
One day, when the ride is over, I can sell Cyberista. That's one of the benefits of owning your code. The other benefit is not having to make up words for things that already exist.
With that in mind, go read the journal. If you must have a fancy name, go read the interactive journal.
